…..Conferred, the rock of Ijaw Nation


The Kabowei Kingdom today conferred on Governor Seriake Dickson the Chieftaincy title of Alaowei Okunte (The Rock of Ijaw Nation) of Kabowei.

The Governor bagged the title alongside Chief Onanefe Ibori, former Governor of Delta State, in the palace of the King of the Kabowei Kingdom, HRM. Barrister Shadrach Erebulu ( Aduo III)

According to Pere, Shadrach Erebulu, the title is in recognition of Governor Dickson's outstanding performance in the governance of Bayelsa and in his move to foster the unity of the Ijaw people across the nation as well as advancing the development of the Ijaw nation, Kabowei inclusive.

His Excellency, Chief Onanefe Ibori, who was also conferred as the "Pillar of Kabowei Kingdom" said, he has thrown his weight behind Governor Dickson' call for a referendum for a restructured Nigeria, supporting the move that the restructuring of the nation must be done with the Niger Delta as focus. He also noted that the region can only survive if the call for restructuring is successful.

Rear Admiral Gboribiogha John-Jonah, Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator. Foster Ogola, Hon. Fred Agbedi, Rt.Hon. Kombowei Benson, Speaker of Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Barr. Kemela Okara, Secretary to the Bayelsa State Government,and host of other top dignitaries graced the historical event in Patani, Delta State.
