No Extortion Took Place At MMA2 - Police Spokesperson



The Airport Police Command, Ikeja Lagos said its attention has been drawn to an online publication of Sunday, 5th January 2020 that policemen attached to mma2 division of airport command working under the authority of FAAN unlawfully obtained the sum of N35,000 from one Nicolas Irangbe to effect the release of his Toyota car with Reg No. KRD 741FX.

In a press release on Monday, 6th January, 2020 by the Police Public Relation Officer, Airport Police Command, Ikeja Lagos, DSP Alabi Joseph, he said that the said car when it arrived at MMA2 the driver packed it on an unauthorized place and was then towed by Turas Integrated Services, an authorized company under Bi-courtney Aviation Ltd of MMA2 .

The statement read, "There was a hitted argument between the driver and the towing van owner which made the police at MMA2 to intervened. While the argument was still on, the car owner went and pay the fees to the towing van company leading to the release of the car to the driver.

"I wish to put the record straight in order to correct the false allegation and erroneous impression that the falsehood might have created that the money was not paid to the police at MMA2.  

"There was no extortion as alleged by the said Nicolas as the towing van company, a subsidiary of  Bi-courtney management at MMA2 are the one whom they paid to as the fine for illegal packing. 

"Meanwhile the commissioner of police Airport Police Command has further assured the public of their protection and safety at all the Airport formations in the country, the statement concluded.
