Kogi PDP Leaders Affirm Deji Adeyanju As Kogi Candidate For National Publicity Secretary And Dissociate Self From Kabiru Endorsement

The leadership of PDP in Kogi led by immediate past Governor, Ibrahim Wada, Sen.Tunde Ogbeha, Prince Olusola Akonmode, Prof. Jegede and a host of others have dissociated themselves from the purported endorsement of Bar. Kabiru Usman one of the aspirants contesting from Kogi for the office of National Publicity Secretary of the party.

The leaders of the party said there was no time that they sat down with him or anyone else to carry out any endorsement because he is not even qualified to run for any office of the party at the forth coming convention because of the convention proclamation at the Port Harcourt convention where the Caretaker was constituted and all members of the committee were barred from contesting for any position at the proposed convention.

The leaders further added that even the Convention Planning Committee at its inaugural meeting in Port-Harcourt which was chaired by the Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike had made it categorically clear that no Members of the Caretaker Committee would be allowed to contest and as such, there was no way we could have gone against the Convention Decision that barred people like Kabiru from contesting.

So as loyal party leaders, it is unimaginable for us to encourage such a lawless ambition. They called upon the general public to discountenance such statement from anyone parading themselves as leaders of the state.

However, the leaders met and reviewed all aspirants running for the office of National Publicity Secretary and resolved to support the candidature of Deji Adeyanju, the current Director of New Media of the party by consensus. The leaders said he had done a fantastic job of defending the party since the defeat at the general elections last year and he is a courageous young man. They said Deji has been committed to the party and therefore they cannot abandon him now.
