Amosu Is Unjustly Tried - Integrity Youth Alliance

The Integrity Youth Alliance has called on President Buhari to dissolve the Arms Probe Committee as the Committee is biased.

In a press release issued by the Alliance Publicity Secretary, Danjuma Lamido, he said AVM Amosu (rtd) is innocent of all charges and they see Boko Haram fighting Amosu back. Below is the full text of the media release:

The attention of Integrity Youth Alliance has been drawn to the media trial of the former Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Amosu.

The EFCC should allow justice prevailed as we believe si much in the rule of Law.

We all know that Boko Haram activities was brought to an halt at the tail end of the Goodluck Jonathan administratiion due to relentless efforts of AVM Amosu and other service Chiefs.

Rather than getting commendation and honour from this administration,  AVM Amosu is going through the darkest chapter of his life. ‎The President Muhammadu Buhari's Committee on Audit of Defence Equipment Procurement headed by Air Vice Marshal John Ode submitted a damning report indicting top military and political actors.

Secondly, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission arrested and detained Amosu charged him to a Federal High Court following accusations of N21bn fraud charges.

If the EFCC are sure of their investigations, why are they suggesting plea bargaining with Amosu?

Majority of Nigerians has described the accusations against Amosu as politically motivated. We made it bold to say this government is being selective and refusing to indict key Minister of the Buhari administration, who we believed to have played questionable roles in military procurement since 2007.

We make bold to say the Presidency has doctored the Arms Procurement Probe Report to shield the Minister of Interior, Lieutenant-General Abdulrahman Dambazau (rtd) and Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Major General Tukur Buratai.

We want the Federal Government to know they lied about the terms of reference on the latest interim report on the ongoing probe into arms procurement by successive government since 2007.

However, there are questions begging for answers:

Who is in charge of Military contract?
What is the role of the Ministry of Defence in awarding of contracts?
Did AVM Amosu buy any aircraft?
Do Head of Ministries, Agencies, President, Governors e.t.c account for security votes? What is an Operation Fund and what are the modalities in sending them?
Why criminalize Operation Fund under AVM Amosu?
Why did the consultant to the Arms Probe resigned?
Why did the committee not invite the Service Chiefs for questioning?
Can the Chairman of the Probe Committee make bold to say he is not having grudges with Amosu?
Is Boko Haram not fighting back those who fought against Boko Haram?
What is the position of the Procurement Act on this issue?

We make bold to say this administration is not sincere in her corruption war because Anosu is being punished for something else.

We called on the President to dissolve the Arms Probe Committee and set up an unbiased Committee to be headed by a man of integrity.

Amosu serve diligently and should be commended for bringing to halt Boko Haram activities.
