The Bayelsa State Governor on Tuesday, 11th
February, 2020 unveiled the Ijaw Heroes Park which he called a resting place
for a select few Ijaw sons and daughters who have influenced the trajectory of
Bayelsa State and the Ijaw nation.
In his words, 'it is also a place of history where
the documentation of people whose lives have positively influenced the Ijaw
nation'.
Amongst those who have been laid to rest in the
Heroes park are General Owoye Azazi, Rear Admiral Bossman Soroh, and Major
Isaac Adaka Boro, King Robert Ebizimo, Chief Melford Okilo, and a host of
others.
The Governor used the opportunity to call on all
successive governments to treat the park sacredly, and not like a mare cemetery.
