- CP Says Bayelsa will be very tough for criminals
The new Commissioner of police who took over from his
predecessor CP Asuquo Amba, on Wednesday expressed gratitude to the governor of
Bayelsa State, Honourable Henry Seriake Dickson for the warm reception he
received since he arrived Bayelsa.
In his speech, on the occassion of a courtesy call to the
governor, the new CP gave commendations for the collaboration and support the
police force has enjoyed throughout Governor Dickson's administration which in
his words accounted for Bayelsa State maintaining a dignified low national
crime index ratio for the past six years and pledged to maintain the
collaboration that exists between the people, the Police and the Government of
Bayelsa State.
Awunah however advised all Bayelsans not to politicize
crime stating that a new Sheriff is in town and all criminals, their sponsors
and collaborators will relocate.
Governor Dickson in his remark welcomed the new CP to
Bayelsa state and expressed delight at his clear, firm and confident speech. He
also used the opportunity to credit the efforts of security agents in fighting
and reducing the crime rate in the state for the past six years of the
restoration administration which accounts for the state's consistent low
ranking in the national crime index. Bayelsa is rated one of the safest states
in the entire federation.
‘In this state and government, there is zero tolerance
for crime, criminality, lawlessness and brigandage and we do not play politics
with law and order’
The governor used the opportunity to warn all those
criminals sneaking into the state that the state under this new CP will not be
a safe haven.
In his words, ‘we will support this commissioner of
police and his team to roll out a program of enforcement that will get at all
kidnappers, all sea pirates, all vandals of strategic state assets, all those
who foment crisis in communities, all those who are dealing with unlawful
possession of firearms, all those who sponsor and collaborate with criminals
and all those who are circulating prohibited and addictive drugs. Bayelsa will
be very tough for criminals.
The event was attended by a team of senior police
